Abstract
Drawing on the idea of grid in computer networks, this paper maps heterogeneous wireless networks to distributed grids by introducing Resource Management Unit, and then presents a hierarchical semi-centralized architecture for load balancing of heterogeneous wireless networks. The analytical models for the signaling overhead of the architecture are established. Theoretical analysis and simulation results indicate that the architecture we proposed can reduce the signaling overhead and improve the system reliability effectively.
