Abstract
A computational model that allows the behavior of a counter-current rotating kiln to be characterized, taking into account the different parameters involved and the possible modes of operation, is described. The model is easy to use and very flexible, allowing different kinds of processes taking place inside the kiln itself (heat absorption or emission, vaporization processes, and so on) to be simulated. The results obtained with the model are compared to experimental data for real systems operating on an industrial scale. Good agreement is observed, validating the utility of the model
