  • Abstract
    A technique is presented for improving the variable structure controller. This new scheme is a combination of classical variable structure system and moving average filter. The methodology overcomes the problem of chattering while maintaining fast response, high accuracy and robustness of the variable structure systems. A nonlinear system is used for illustration. Another simple scheme of using low pass filter is also presented. This method is effective of eliminating chattering if the output of relay is carefully tuned. The same nonlinear system is used for illustration
