Abstract
This paper presents results of space charge and conduction current measurements performed on ethylene-vinyl-acetate nanofilled by a layered silicate. Large space charge and conduction current magnitude were observed. To clarify this behavior, fast-acquisition space charge measurements were performed using blocking electrode, with the aim of varying the charge injection/extraction barrier at the electrodes. The results show that in the presence of a blocking electrode a smaller amount of charge is accumulated in the bulk, thereby providing the evidence that the rapid space charge build-up in the insulation bulk is due to fast charge packets injected from both electrodes.
