  • Abstract
Distributed control system (DCS) has become a trend of advanced control systems in industrial processes because it has a lot of advantages such as stability of controlling, reduction of wiring cost, easy maintenance. As Model Predictive Control (MPC) toolbox has never been implemented on Yokogawapsilas DCS, in this paper, we present such an implementation. Furthermore, we compare controllable results between the MPC and a decoupling PI control. We begin with representing the model of this process using a step-response method, and then, we employ both techniques with this model. The PI parameters are tuned by Ziegler-Nichols method. The implementation works well and the results reveal that MPC outperforms the decoupling PI control in terms of command tracking.
