Abstract
According to the traditional EMC design ruler, the microstrip line or the stripline with a split reference plane should be avoided since they have a great influence on EMI. In this paper, we investigate the different effect of the stripline with a split reference plane on EMI, where the split reference plane is covered or uncovered by a completed ground plane. The 3m far field is simulated by a proposed analytical method. Three PCBs are fabricated for the validation purpose. The simulation results agree well with the measurement results. It well demonstrates the accuracy of the proposed model and simulation method. When the stripline with a split reference plane is covered by a completed ground plane, the ground plane can greatly suppress the EMI induced by the unintended noises.
