Abstract
To enhance the effects of the voltage/VAR control of the distribution systems, a new hierarchical dispatching structure is proposed, which aims at the coordination of the offline planning and online readjusting in different time scales. ldquoevent-drivenrdquo, one of the fundamental concepts of hybrid automatic voltage control theory (HAVC), is also used to establish the voltage/VAR control scheme, and makes the schema proposed computationally efficient and suitable for the real-time applications. To validate this scheme, a field test was carried out in an urban power grid of China. Testing results show that the proposed control strategy can reduce total power loss effectively as well as improve the voltage profile of the whole distribution system at the same time.
