  • Abstract
    This paper presents design and implementation of an X-band substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) filter based on cavities coupled to a microstrip line. This method of coupling which is suitable for multilayer structures may also be used as a tunable filter by tuning the SIW cavity. A three pole narrowband SIW filter has been designed based on this method of cavity coupling. Simulations using HFSS and measurement of the fabricated filter has been presented. Also a comparison has been done with recently reported three pole narrowband filters. Major benefits of this filter are simple designing procedure, steep cutoff and flat bandpass.
