  • Abstract
We propose a novel intensity-based fiber optic vibration sensor using a mass-spring transducer and a rectangular aperture. An optical collimator is used to collimate the beam modulated by a rectangular aperture connected with mass-spring transducer. As a result, the sensitivity and the dynamic range for the proposed fiber optic vibration sensor are given. The proposed fiber optic vibration sensor scheme has the advantages of simple structure, cheapness, self-referencing characteristic and can be used for distributed detection by wavelength division multiplexing(WDM).
