  • Abstract
    Temperature is one of the important parameters related to a material as such or placed in a furnace. If the sample is located at a distant place, then temperature has to be logged by a system such as laptop/desktop. Further, accurate measurement and monitoring of temperature is an important task in research field and vital task in industrial and chemical processes. In this paper, we present an inexpensive instrumentation for the measurement, monitoring and processing of temperature of a furnace located in a remote area. The total system is built around Texas Instrument´s low-power, low-cost microcontroller: MSP430G2553. TSIC501F temperature sensor is used for the temperature measurement, which is self calibrated and achieves considerably good accuracy with long term stability. The measured temperature is directly sent to laptop/desktop by communicating over wireless transmission using Zigbee wireless communication devices (CC2500). Software is developed in embedded C using IAR Embedded Work Bench 5.40. The experimental results are discussed in detail shows that, the system is reliable, low cost and portable.
