Abstract
This paper deals with experimental works and power loss calculations of low-speed permanent magnet (PM) wind turbine generator. Power losses such as windage, friction, stator core, copper and rotor eddy current losses are calculated using analytical equations and finite element (FE) analyses. The calculated losses are validated extensively by measurements. And then, by employing calculated losses for equivalent circuit of the PM wind turbine generator, the performances such as output power and efficiency of the PMSG are easily predicted. Finally, by confirming that the calculated efficiency is shown in good agreement with the measured one, the validity of calculated losses is verified once again.
