Abstract
A general method to model rotary machines using finite-element method (FEM) of transient magnetic field computation is presented. The merits of the proposed methods are that the nonlinear iteration on the rotor position is avoided; a curvilinear element is used in the two sides of the sliding surface; the methods being proposed to deal with matching boundaries and periodic boundaries are very general, accurate and flexible.
