Abstract
Superconducting fault current limiters (SFCL) have been progressing due to the development of superconducting technology. The resistor type SFCL using YBCO thin film is one of the promising current limiting devices for its effective operation. In this paper, the mathematical model of the resistor type SFCL was developed for power system analysis, and some important specifications of the SFCL were also defined. The effects on transient stability with SFCL installed at different position were investigated. Simulation was made in one machine and infinite bus system to demonstrate the conclusion. At last, a guideline for the SFCL´s parameters optimization was given
