  • Abstract
    A capacitor discharge impulse magnetizer is used to produce a high current impulse of short duration in a magnetizing fixture for magnets of various shapes. This paper describes a method for exact parameter estimation of impulse magnetizer and a method for thermal analysis of the impulse magnetizer using this parameter. As the detailed thermal characteristics of the impulse magnetizer can be obtained, the efficient design of the impulse magnetizer which produces the desired magnet will be possible using our analysis procedure. Also, the temperature computation of discharging circuits of the impulse magnetizer is very important since it gives some indication of the design of the magnetizing circuits. Therefore, a method for thermal analysis of the impulse magnetizer is presented
