Abstract

The paper discusses the technology for Internet gateways with emphasis on the Intranet-based email fax gateway solution. It presents the strategic advantage of the integration of telephone network services and Internet services. The client/server based architecture with multiple servers is proposed. The main functional modules for providing basic LAN fax services, the email to fax gateway functions, fax to email gateway functions and message processing approaches are discussed. The paper also discusses the Web-based user email agent and fax user agent approaches
