Abstract
Optical properties such as optical absorption, photoluminescence (PL), radiophotoluminescence (RPL) and excitation spectrum for RPL in Ag+-activated phosphor glass which is now using as individual radiation dosemeter, are estimated and the emission and excitation mechanism are discussed in this paper, because the emission mechanism of RPL in Ag+-activated phosphor glass was not well understood. The RPL peaks at 460 nm and 560 nm are ascribed to Ag2+ ion and Ag0 ion which are produced by capturing the x-ray-induced electrons and holes at Ag+ ion, respectively.
