  • Abstract
    Femto cells will be adopted in LTE to provide indoor coverage, and CSG (closed subscriber group) will be supported for service provisioning. Due to potential huge number of femto cells and the impacts from CSG related functionalities, conventional location management may cause low efficiency in LTE deployment. This paper analyzes the technical issues and proposes an efficient location management mechanism for LTE femto cells considering the overlay macro cells. Performance analysis is conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness and advantages. The proposed mechanism can be applied to large scale deployment of LTE femto cells in the near future.
