Abstract
The paper is based an empirical study on the students´ response to their preferred mode of study. The data suggest statistically significant variations in the preferred mode between the students studying through distance education channel´ and those studying in the regular university departments´, as also between and within some sub-groups of the students. In the backdrop of crisis, such as faculty crunch, that the contemporary education system faces, the paper makes a case for blended learning and puts forth a model which promises to provide a more satisfying experience to the shades of students in their venture.
