Abstract
A class of linear-phase digital filters is introduced. The switching and resetting approach is combined with that of time reversal to produce an inherently stable infinite-impulse-response-like FIR (finite-impulse response) filter with exact linear phase. The frequency response error due to FIR approximation is discussed for both parallel and cascade architectures. Design examples are provided to illustrate the computational complexity and the group delay of these filters. The method´s major drawback is the higher group delay involved in the time-reversal scheme
