Abstract
The mathematical model of temperature, electric field and charge density dynamics in the course of thermal breakdown is considered. Development of thermal instability caused by local temperature increase is investigated with the help of numerical simulation. Start conditions and spatial-temporal characteristics of the electrical-thermal structure growth resulting in formation of highly conducting channel and filamentary thermal breakdown are obtained
