  • Abstract
Resolution of Initial position estimation based on high frequency voltage signal injection for IPMSM was investigated. The simulation was carried out to investigate the influence of inductance saturation due to motor drive currents and quantization errors due to A/D conversion on the estimation accuracy. An experimental system consisting of a IPM motor and a voltage-source PWM inverter has been implemented to investigate position estimation accuracy. The simulation results show that estimation accuracy depends on the resistance-to-reluctance ratio at zero speed. However, experimental results show that estimation accuracy is affected significantly by inverter output voltages and configuration of the test motor.
