Abstract
In order to control the flow of light, photonic structures like modulators and switches need to be developed in silicon where a change in refractive index induces a change in the transmission properties of the device. This paper presents Si photonics, electro-optical devices, and monolithic integration of optics and microelectronics for light manipulation purposes.
