Abstract
This study monitors the polarization activity of operating light wave systems in urban and suburban areas. In 6 months of observation, multiple fast polarization fluctuations are detected, which are, however, not expected to trigger protection, or to affect performance of slower polarization mode dispersion (PMD) mitigating devices.
