  • Abstract
Silicon-controlled current-source rectifiers have been widely applied in industries. However, they cause problems of harmonic currents and voltage notch and result in serious poor power quality of the utility. In this paper, the voltage notch is discussed, and several passive and hybrid solutions to improve the power quality problems caused by the silicon-controlled current-source rectifier are analyzed. The hybrid solution, comprising both hybrid and passive power filters, can effectively mitigate the problems of harmonic currents and voltage notch. Finally, computer simulation is carried out to evaluate the performance of passive and hybrid solutions to improve the power quality problems caused by the silicon-controlled current-source rectifier.
