Abstract
This paper presents a new method for non-stationary interference/jammer suppression in direct-sequence spread spectrum communications. The interference is assumed to have a constant amplitude with time-varying frequency and is modeled as a polynomial phase signal. We propose the use of a parametric estimation technique to synthesize the interference from the received signal. The technique is robust to additive noise and gives excellent performance under moderate and high signal-to-noise ratios. Once estimated, the interference contribution can be removed by subtracting its estimate from the received signal. We present simulation results that clearly illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in terms of significantly improved bit error rates.
