  • Abstract
    The paper presents a mathematical model derivation of an advanced static VAr compensator (ASVC) using a three-level inverter. The system is analysed using MATLAB through a set of simulation tests, to determine the effect of the DC-side capacitors on the harmonic performance and dynamic behaviour. The control of the system is carried out using the d-q axis transformation and the implementation of a PI regulator. The results obtained are given, discussed and may lead to correct design of a robust controller for reactive power applications.
