Abstract
We designed a bi-directional transmission system in which a single-mode optical fibre line and a free-space optics line are directly connected without photoelectric devices. An automatic optical-axis alignment system has newly developed to obtain the optimum alignment of collimators. 1 Gbit/s transmission at 1310 and 1550 nm wavelength has successfully achieved with high quality.
