Abstract
A new type of nonintrusive two-phase EHD pump “AW type EHD pump” was developed, where the electrode system consists of a corona wire electrode in gas-phase and a plate electrode inclined in a gas-liquid interface. The fundamental characteristics of the two-phase EHD pump such as time averaged pumping flow rate, time averaged current-voltage characteristics, liquid film thickness and flow velocity of working fluid at the plate electrode surface etc. were investigated. The effect of discharge polarity on electrical current conduction and electrohydrodynamically induced liquid flow is discussed in detail in the terms of a dimensionless parameter
