Abstract
Reliability, low cost and low power are key issues in automobile electronics. A Micro Controller Unit (MCU) applied in Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is designed and taped out, and it is mainly composed of a special Low Dropout Voltage Linear Buck Regulator (LDO), A/D controller and DW8051. In this paper, the LDO design has been achieved to meet the power supply big variation of automobile, the supply of LDO is at wide range from 2.7 to 5.5V for Supply Voltage Compatibility (SVC) and the output of LDO is at 1.8V which is the DC power supply for control module. Low power is carefully considered in the LDO and control module design. Quiescent current in the LDO is 40¿A with assuring the MCU works well at supply voltage 5.5V and load current 20mA by post simulation. The LDO design is proved to be feasible by post simulation, and integrated with 8051 core, etc. The MCU chip is taped out by 0.18 ¿m CMOS process and the area is 3.5Ã3.5 mm2.
