Abstract
This paper presents a novel multipurpose image authentication scheme for both content authentication and copyright protection. The vector quantization (VQ) algorithm and standard deviation (SD) are adopted to generate authentication and ownership verification information. The experimental results show that this scheme not only distinguishes non-malicious manipulation from others clearly but also verifies ownership and locates the regions of the image that have been tampered.
