Abstract
Concentrated windings are commonly associated with permanent magnet machines. However, it is the opinion of the authors that this name does not uniquely describe this winding type. The paper suggests a unique classification scheme which is based on classical winding properties. This paper points out that non-overlapping windings can either be concentrated or distributed.
