Abstract
A multi-element parasitic planar inverted F-antenna (PIFA) array operating at 1900MHz was designed for beam steering. The array consists of a driven element and two parasitic elements both terminated with capacitive reactances. The proposed antenna array has 60%-130% wider bandwidth than a single PIFA and can direct its beam at three different angles in one of the elevation planes. The beam direction change was achieved by selecting appropriate capacitive terminations at the feed points of the parasitic elements.
