Abstract
Rural electrification, specifically in Africa and parts of Asia, is of major importance as it relates to development. This paper outlines how a cellular-enabled micro-inverter might facilitate access to electricity without depending on the standard power grid growth models. Using the infrastructure made available by the cellular phone industry, this device could be instrumental in developing rapid and economically beneficial rural electrification through consumer-based demand and organic growth.
