  • Abstract
A novel tunable antenna is proposed to provide ultra-wide tunable range with a high selectivity. A reconfigurable matching network is implemented to achieve impedance matching at desired frequency of semi-ultra wideband (S-UWB) antennas, which can be designed in a straight forward manner. The L-C series matching network is chosen to demonstrate the performance by simulations. The simulation results show that the proposed antenna can cover from 1.8 GHz to 11.5 GHz with bandwidth ~300 MHz. Replacing the L-C type with a T-type or pi-type network which gives one more freedom to achieve high selective tunable antenna of ~80 MHz. The novel concept expands the tunable range of reconfigurable antennas in a simple implementation.
