  • Abstract
A low-profile, dual-polarized, and multi-band antenna element called "the fourpoint antenna" was proposed and tested using both experiment and simulation. The fourpoint antenna is composed of four identical "point" shaped elements and a tuning plate etched bottom of a printed circuit board. The antenna size is about 0.31λL × 0.31λL × 0.17λL at the lower operating frequency. The fourpoint antenna provides 92% (2.7:1) bandwidth and a high gain, unidirectional pattern with 8 ∼ 9 dBi peak gain. Cross-polarization level is than -27 dB and -18 dB at the lower and upper ends of the operating band respectively.
