Abstract
Atmospheric precipitable water vapour (PWV) is one of the most environment parameters that play a key role of the Earth´s atmosphere. Characterization of their physical process and forecast the global climate system is a great challenge to investigate how much atmospheric difference between the North Pole and the South Pole in order to understand coupled climate system and global change. This paper presents a capability of GPS technique to measure the PWV content as a climate variable at conjugate points between Husafell station, Arctic (HUSA) and Syowa station, Antarctic (SYOG) using ground-based GPS receivers and surface meteorological measurements. Using data gathered from 1st March to 31st May 2009, PWV variability at both regions is monitored. Analysis results of the surface meteorological parameters (pressure, temperature and humidity) and total ozone column data at both regions are also presented.
