Abstract
Surface temperature has significant impact on the microwave brightness temperature measurements. In this study, we evaluate the surface temperature effects on soil moisture estimation. Two soil moisture inversion methods for bare surface based on surface microwave emission model-advanced integral equation model (AIEM) were developed. A parameterized model-Qp model was used to cancel out the roughness effect and statistical method was used to cancel out the surface temperature effect. Finally, the in situ measurements from CEOP experiment were used to validate the retrieval results of both algorithms.
