  • Abstract
    Summary form only given. We demonstrate a single-photon source based on a quantum dot in a micropost microcavity that exhibits a large Purcell factor (F/sub p/=5) together with a small multi-photon probability (g/sup (2)/(0)=2%). Emitted single photons are nearly Fourier-transform-limited. An extension of this technique can be used to generate entangled photon pairs on demand.
