Abstract
It is pointed out that misconceptions and confusion about the application and tailoring of DOD-STD-2176A are common and stem from a variety of factors. The author discusses some of these factors, as well as issues, potential pitfalls, and approaches to applying DOD-STD-2167A. Particular attention is given to the mapping of Ada to DOD-STD-2167A and to data item descriptions
