  • Abstract
    River analysis is an important tool in geomorphology, since the drainage network is very sensitive to geological and tectonic processes. Different techniques can be applied to gather neotectonic information from DEMs. Both the drainage system in map view and longitudinal profiles extracted from DEMs were used in this study. Correlation between faults and streams can be quantified by calculating a reduced covariance. Different gradient indices were used to examine longitudinal profiles. Thereby a normalized steepness index yields best results and can be seen as a relative uplift rate.
