Abstract
The occurrence in recent years of catastrophic blackouts in worldwide power systems has raised on the need to endow specific protection schema to deal with emergency control. The paper presents DefPlans, an environment envisaged to specify and validate defense plans for bulk power systems. In DefPlans is possible to specify the emergency control functionality according to the multi-agents paradigm, and validate them by the Power System Dynamic simulator (PSD). DefPlans bridge the gap between the specification and the code, and offers a number of features tailored to design real-time, concurrent and distributed functionality.
