Abstract
Sci-Eng Solutions has made significant progress toward the development of a Photon Initiated - Marxed Modulator (PIMM) designed to power two parallel klystrons with 1.6 mus, 500 kV pulses with a flattop voltage precision better than plusmn1/2%. Successful development and deployment of Photon- initiated switches and their ancillary photon source / delivery system are crucial to attaining long life, reliable operation at 120 Hz manifest to this application. The PIMM topology is equally applicable to many high power microwave applications pertinent to the directed energy arena.
