Abstract
Based on the Kirchhoff approximation for rough surface scattering and by calculating the shadowing function of the rough surface, the formula of the scattering cross section of the fractal rough surface is present with consideration of the shadowing effect. The influence of the shadowing effect on the bistatic scattering cross section for different fractal dimension and fundamental spatial frequency is discussed in detail.
