Abstract
The trend in the nearshore community has been to deploy sensors from disparate manufacturers in a single integrated package. However, difficulties have sometimes arisen when sensors with extremely high data acquisition rates, such as the SonTek ADV line of instruments, are integrated into these packages. To address this difficulty, SonTek has developed the Hydra datalogger. The Hydra is easily capable of handling the 25 Hz data acquisition rates of the ADV, as well as to control and log data synchronously from external sensors from third party manufacturers through use of the SonLink protocol. The supporting software is designed to control data acquisition from all sensors and to log all data into a single easily accessible file. The authors report on several SonTek Hydra systems which have been deployed over the past few months
