Abstract
We have experimentally studied the effect of artificial magnetic material loading to the radiation properties of a half-wavelength patch antenna. The aim is to investigate whether it is practically feasible to achieve effective inductive loading with an array of stacked split-ring resonators. Reference measurements with dielectric loading are conducted to estimate the magnetic response of the proposed material load at the operational frequency.
