Abstract
The level of electrification in Southern Africa is very low in comparison to developing countries elsewhere. South Africa is becoming aware of the need to raise the standard of living of its developing community. The sharp increase in ownership of electrical appliances in the developing community is a clear indication that a large increase in the consumption of electrical energy for the domestic sector can be expected
