Abstract
In this paper the design of a compact, efficient and electronically tunable antenna is presented. The fundamental structure of the antenna consists of a rectangular patch with a PIN diode mounted across the slot cut in the patch. The antenna tuning is realized by changing its effective electrical length, which is controlled by the bias voltages across the PIN diode. The simulation work is carried out in micro-stripes simulator. The designed antenna is tested on the Vector Network Analyzer. The proposed antenna is designed at 10 GHz frequency and it has capability to resonate at 12.01 GHz and 12.16 GHz when PIN diode is reverse bias and forward bias respectively.
