Abstract
The GPM/GMI is intended to be a calibration standard for the GPM constellation of microwave imagers. As such, GMI is being designed with several features intended to improve calibration performance and to mitigate calibration problems that have occurred on past space borne radiometers. One feature is a hybrid calibration approach using two existing technologies. This approach combines the traditional cold space view and black body measurements with noise diode measurements.
