Abstract
In this presentation, we investigate the properties of the PBG´s in the MPC´s in detail. We calculate the band structures of two-dimensional (2D) MPC´s which are composed of magnetic rectangular/square scatterers in rectangular/square lattice. The plane-wave expansion method is employed. We find that the PBG´s in the MPC´s strongly depend on physical and geometric parameters in the structures, such as the shapes of the 2D lattice and the scatterers, the permeability of the scatterers, and so on. Therefore, the introduction of magnetic material into the PC´s may diversify the favorable candidates of the PC´s in nature. It is expected that the PBG´s in the MPC´s can be engineered by changing the relevant parameters to match various practical applications in optical devices.
