  • Abstract
Summary form only given, as follows. One- and two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic simulations of cylindrical and quasi-spherical current discharge driven spherical implosions were performed. Analytic results imply that properly compressing a preheated (~1-5-eV), high sound speed working fluid can cause a centered target to undergo spherical compression. It is shown that this compression may be possible using properly shaped, i.e. quasi-spherical, imploding liners. This implosion method has been contrasted with traditional cylindrical implosions
